Today we practiced a Kindness Meditation (sometimes called Metta or Lovingkindness). We also looked at our daily activities, identifying those that are nourishing and those that are depleting (and many that are both!) We also looked at factors that make a given activity more nourishing or depleting (such as feeling Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired- HALT).

Session Themes: We have spent several weeks bringing awareness to the specific situations, thoughts, and emotions that put us at risk for relapse. Taking care of ourselves and engaging in nourishing activities are also crucial parts of sustaining recovery. In this session, we take a look at the broader picture of our lives and identify aspects that support a healthier, more vital life as well as those that put us at risk. Lifestyle balance and compassion for oneself are essential elements of a healthy and fulfilling life.

Mindfulness of daily activities: consider small, everyday things you do during your day (washing dishes, brushing teeth) and try one or two out like we did with the raisin exercise, where we slow down and bring our full mindful awareness to the process.
