Mindfulness in Challenging Situations

Today we practiced Awareness of Sight/Seeing, a longer Sitting Meditation (Sounds, Breath, Sensations, Thoughts), the SOBER space in a more challenging situation, and Walking Meditation.

Session Themes: We focus on staying present in challenging situations that have previously been associated with substance use or other reactive behaviors. We learn how to relate differently to cravings or urges to use substances and practice responding to highly evocative stimuli with awareness rather than reacting automatically or out of habit.

Mindfulness of daily activities: consider small, everyday things you do during your day (washing dishes, brushing teeth) and try one or two out like we did with the raisin exercise, where we slow down and bring our full mindful awareness to the process.
