Automatic Pilot and Mindful Awareness

Welcome to MBRP!

Today we practiced the raisin exercise (mindfulness of eating), and the body scan.

We also talked about “what is mindfulness” (one definition, from Jon Kabat-Zinn, “awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally”) and what it is not (feeling good, bliss, having no thoughts in our heads, sitting in a perfect yoga pose, etc).

Mindfulness of daily activities: consider small, everyday things you do during your day (washing dishes, brushing teeth) and try one or two out like we did with the raisin exercise, where we slow down and bring our full mindful awareness to the process.
